Label Printing
Label narrow web Rotary Press
The label printing is one of the fields where the dust removal contact system of the AR Series finds its more natural use. In fact, its compactness, the innovative system for the passage of paper at starting no longer provides for the opening of the unit with the hinge as the competitors, but instead the unit remains closed and are the internal rollers to rise through a pneumatic system. This means safety for the operator and less space required for installation, especially in the part above the unit.
Even in the field of labels, however, there is a growing demand for our Contact less solution, the DM1000. This provides extremely high performance, removing dust from both sides of the band without ever touching it. When the amount of dust to be removed is remarkable, DM1000 is the ideal solution for the label printer.

Digital Printing
The major manufacturers of digital printing machines posed us a new challenge: totally remove the paper dust which limits the life of the print head and increases the need for support and maintenance of the machines.
This need is generated by the use of increasingly broad range of supports and the desire to reduce the printing unit operating costs. The answer is the new ACE system DM 1000 DG, consisting of a dedicated cleaning head that never has a contact with the paper. The head is placed on a support designed to be independent from the unwinder, and allow the positioning of the same according to the required input angle of the paper.
A new concept of filtering unit completes the DM1000 DG, minimum footprint, self-cleaning filter, remote display of the working unit condition and integration of the commands in the machine controls.
DM1000 DG the ultimate solution for digital presses!

Rotogravure printing
During the rotogravure printing process the problem that most often adversely affects the print quality and ink consumption is the “Missing points”. This occurs when the ink in the cells of printing cylinders hardly exit completely and consequently does not reach the substrate to be printed, whether it is paper or film. The new and patented 24V ESA system in versions Top Loading and Direct Charging is the solution by ACE to this problem. In fact, thanks to the correct polarization of the ink through the influence of proper electrostatic charge applied to the pressure, the ink migrates towards the substrate completely. It is thus obtained a high-quality printing with a great ink saving.
To all this is added the Research by ACE which created an ESA system completely 24Volt powered, so that in addition to the performance guarantees a safety level not achievable by other systems.
In rotogravure printing of editions, which is necessarily equipped with ribbons folder, ACE has developed a special system to ensure the electrostatic adhesion of the tapes after the longitudinal cut, before the cross cut. This is a further technological innovation that ensures high performance and a homogeneous electrostatic charge over the entire length of the printed page.

Roto Offset Printing
The dust that comes from the unwinding of the reel often generates printing problems, in fact its accumulation and the effect of the dampening create little aggregation of dust that leave the imprint without colour on paper. To avoid this problem ACE has developed a Contact less web cleaning system able to remove all the dust before printing.
The dust, in the printing field, has a big impact on costs because it generates build up over the blankets, due to its mixture with the dampening. This implies the need of frequent blanket washing, with use of solvents and the generation of waste copies and the decrease of the net output copies. That’s why the application of a dust removal system is essential in this process.
In addition, with the use of antistatic bars along the path of conveyor belts after the folding machine delivery, jams of stackers due to the accumulation of electrostatic current in the signatures are avoided.
Finally, the positioning of an electrostatic blocking unit at bundles stackers delivery allows the stabilization of stacks of signatures and a trouble-free strapping. Unstrapped signature can be easily and automatically palletized by means of a robot palletizer, when ACE electrostatic blocking unit is compacting the bundles after the stacker.

Consumers become much more attentive to the characteristics of the product, especially if the items in question come into contact with the human skin or in particular with the private parts, and the increased social sensitivity towards the environment requires a particular attention to the elimination of dust which is generated during the printing and converting processes.
In support of the tissue paper industry and in cooperation with leading machine manufacturers, ACE has developed customized and highly advanced systems, that can remove large amounts of dust. These dedusting systems have spread rapidly in the market thanks to their efficiency.
The DM series in fact do not act solely for the elimination of dust in the environment, but perform an effective and higher dedusting of the material thanks to their combined technology of blow, suction and elimination of electrostatic charges.
Their special effectiveness does not reside solely in the construction technology of the filtering units, but also in the known action of the cleaning heads able to create shortwave vibrations on the material in order to remove all the embedded dust on both sides of the veil.

Corrugated Cardboard
Large quantities of heavy dust are generated in the production phases of the corrugated cardboard, harmful for the environment and for the operators, which if not removed remains imprisoned in the sheets and will be shed in quantity during the printing stages, or subsequent process.
ACE designed a special dedusting system, which uses the combination of air turbulence and brushes ensuring total removal of dust, therefore the production of reels or sheets of corrugated cardboard with great printability quality

Extrusion
In the extrusion sector the use of edge fixing electrostatic charge bars is essential. The ACE EP/3 solution, consist of two charging bars equipped with three electrodes, installed at the two sides of the extruded film on the chill-roll drum, to completely eliminate the problem of shrinkage of the film (neck-in), or the bending of the edges.
IONDUAL 24V antistatic bars instead helps a trouble-free film winding without accumulation of electrostatic charges on it at all speeds.
Here also applies ACE Electrostatic Changeover System. With the help Electrostatic Assistance, it replaces the traditional manual application of double-side tape adhesive, normally used to fix the film on the cartonboard core for the winding of new rolls.
Lamination
During lamination process, any dust deposits on one of the reels which are coupled together generates areas of missing or imperfect adhesion between the parts, which is why it makes it necessary to adopt web cleaners.
ACE designed the high-performance Contact less DM solution, offering excellent performance at any line speed. Then the use of antistatic IONDUAL 24V bars eliminates all the problems generated by the electrostatic charge, due to the running of materials through the process. Great performance are then acquired by the laminating line, thanks to ACE technology.
Blown Film
During the sleeve blowing stage, BB Iondual 24V antistatic bars find their application. In fact, when correctly installed they eliminate the problem of blown film slipping, actively participating to stabilizing the sleeve moving upwards. Equally then, in the second part of the process of transformation of the sleeve into a double web, BB Iondual 24V will eliminate all the problems caused by electrostatic charges negatively influencing the film winding operation. Here as well, ACE Electrostatic Changeover find its important application, replacing and thus eliminating the application of double-side tape adhesive on the cores of the new reels.

In the production of bags for containment of liquids, an optimal solution and of great efficiency it is represented by the Contact and Contact less dust elimination systems dedicated to this specific sector. These systems and devices are in fact produced with materials treated to allow their use in clean rooms.
In particular, then, the Contact less system is combined to a specific filtration unit equipped with specific high degree of dust retention filters, accordingly with clean rooms specs.

- Medical and Pharmaceutical
ACE has successfully developed a series of cleaning systems, implementing the highest technology, for the medical sector. Thanks to them, in fact, it is possible to ensure that the substrates such as plastic and Tyvek used to form medical pouches, are absolutely pristine, free from dust and particles present in the air.
Extensive experience in the treatment of the smallest contaminants, combined with the use of special materials and galvanic treatments for manufacturing the cleaning heads, ensure that the instrument itself is suitable for installation in environments with very high degree of cleanliness and cleanrooms. The filtering units are also equipped with filters specially designed for this type of applications.
As standard equipment is the bar of electrostatic discharge with new 24V technology, which positioned at the input of material in the unit allows the total elimination of electrostatic charges on materials that retain even the smallest contaminant particles, thus facilitating the removal with ACE Web Cleaner systems, both with and without contact.
- Contact web cleaning systems
Great advantages during production with Series AR Contact Systems. They remove 100% of contaminant particles (up to 0.5 microns), ensure that the tape at the input of the printing unit does not release dust that can result in a reduction in quality. The on-line cleaning of the converting machines guarantees finished products free from contamination.
At the input of the AR unit an antistatic bar eliminates the static charge of the material, thus releasing contaminating particles that were there anchored. Special rubber rollers attract dust, during their contact (on one or two sides) with the material, which is then collected by adhesive rollers in contact with the rubber rollers.
The rubber rollers remain constantly clean, but with intervals that vary, depending on the degree of soiling of the material, the outer layer of the adhesive rollers will be removed, leaving the underlying one again ready to hold new dirt. At the input of the AR unit is mounted a second antistatic bar to eliminate any residual static charges
- Contactless web cleaning systems
Depending on the field of application, ACE cleaners without contact can be installed at various points of the production machinery. The ACE Web Cleaners guarantee complete removal of dust from the reel, resulting in a total reduction of the waste material deriving from non-compliant product, and best yield performance in the absence of machine downtime periods caused by the accumulation of dust during the processes.
The ACE Web Cleaners simultaneously clean both sides of the material without touching them. The cleaning heads processing the material to be cleaned, generate turbulent air currents (blown and sucked) that produce short-wave vibrations in the material to be treated. The vibrations break the air barrier created by the high speed of the material flow, removing the contaminating particles present on both surfaces of the substrate.
The impurities collected by the cleaning heads are then sent through adequate pipes and hoses to the ACE filtering units.
The DM systems consist of a combination of one or more cleaning heads matched to the relevant filtering unit.
- Contactless sheet cleaning systems
Specially designed for the removal of particles, fibres and dust from sheets of paper and cardboard, plastic and other materials found in sheet or foil. The cleaning heads of the AK series operate on only one side of the substrate to be treated and in combination with the correct model of SBP filtering unit guarantee a 100% cleaning action.
The work principle of the system is based on the removal of the static charge from the substrate prior to entering the cleaning head, to allow release of dust and particles from this bond. A flow of blown and sucked air, generate a turbulence that makes it possible to remove all the particles present on the surface of the substrate.
In some versions for special applications on materials that create a lot of dust, it is also provided the use of a brush, which, placed within the system, guarantees the removal of scraps or other large contaminants. The airflows are generated inside the filtering units, equipped in the models high automatic filter cleaning capacity.
- Dedusting systems for tubers
The AK2000-TU system guarantees the removal of large- or small-sized contaminants. It must be installed ontube sheetsbefore the the tapes coupling sector, in combination with a sliding roller of the paper band that serves to guide the tape inside the device.
First of all it is eliminated the electrostatic charge present in the paper. Immediately after, within the structure of the AK-2000-TU isgenerated a great turbulence, in a combination of blowing and suction of large volumes of air. The filtering unit of the new SPB93 generation generates the required airflows and is equipped with self-cleaning filters and drawer for contaminant collection. The unit is connected to the cleaning head through rigid pipes and hoses.
AK2000-TU is the best solution to guarantee a production absolutely devoid of any type of contaminant, it is continuous and without any need for manual product control, or elimination of bags not perfectly cleaned by the operator. Its use makes it unnecessary to equip the line with systems for the detection of contaminants..
ESA Systems
- Top Loading Systems
- Direct Charging Systems
- Proofing Systems
One of the most common problems in gravure printing is related to the “Missing Dots”.
When the ink sited into the engraved cells of the printing cylinder cannot be completely transferred to the substrate to print, being it paper or film, this situation generates the missing of dots on the image. By consequence an important decrease of the printed image quality is there.
ACE is an important actor of the segment since many years, with its well known and qualified ESA Rotostatic system fed with 230V. Two different applications, Top Loading and Direct Charging, to which today adds the new “patented” version ACE ESA 24V, the outstanding and more advanced solution available on the market up to date.
The installation of ACE ESA24V is normally done on those printing units showcasing the problem. Components of the system are a first antistatic low tension and high performance bar to eliminate all the electrostatic charges effecting the substrate to print, which are generated during the run of the material getting in contact with the rollers, all along the press. An electrostatic charging device, perfectly calibrated accordingly with the needs, provides the generation of an homogeneous and intense electrical field between the pressure roller and the printing cylinder, thus creating the polarization of the ink laid in the engraved cells. This effect, facilitates the full transfer of the ink on the substrate to print. A second 24V antistatic bar is then located at printing unit exit, to grant the substrate running to the next printing unit, to be neutral and free from static charges. ACE ESA 24V System offers the advantage of being installed either on new machine and, as retrofitting on existing presses. Thanks to the features of its management software, the system grants high efficiency and contemporarily the operation of maintenance and replacement of the sleeve can be scheduled, thus reducing to the minimum those stoppages generated by the decreasing of the sleeve themselves. With the features described, ACE ESA 24V is the ideal instrument for the increasing of the net output of the rotogravure printing line.
ESA24V can be supplied in both the version Top Loading and Direct Charging. These two versions differ for the technology applied for inflòuencing the pressure roller of each printing unit.
Corrugated and Flexo Plates Washing Machines
The processes that relate to these applications are essentially of two types, the construction area of the corrugated cardboard and the flexographic printing of corrugated cardboard packaging.
In the first process occur large releases of dust generated by both the unwinding of the reels of the cartons that will become the upper surface, the lower one and the wave of the semi-finished product. Especially from the cuts, first longitudinal for the creation of two reels from the parent reel, then the cross cut, which reduces the secondary reels into sheets. Here the dust collectors by ACE become essential.
During the printing process, there is the problem of washing very large sheets that are glued together with the clichés. This operation, if performed in manual mode is complicated, long so expensive, but the worst is that during this operation often the clichés suffer damage, with the risk of having to change an entire plate! It is here that the cliché cleaning machine by ACE becomes the ultimate solution for reducing both costs and risks.
- Flexo plates vertical washing machines
The LCV 30S and 40S cliché cleaning machines by ACE have been designed to allow the perfect cleaning of large polymer plates, placed vertically.
The machines have been designed to reduce the overall dimensions of the washing system, and prepared to accept polymers with size up to 1,700 mm in height to 2,200 mm in length (LCV-30S) and 2,100 mm in height to 2,800 mm in length (LCV-40S).
The support surface of photopolymers is divided into two halves to allow for the optimum cleaning even of small-sized clichés.
The LCV range machines by ACE feature a polycarbonate folded door access system, designed to make easier the insertion of even the largest polymers.

- Dedusting system for creasing-cutting machines
Specifically designed for Cutting-Creasing units of corrugating lines, the ACE DM6000 system is a dust collector that operates on both sides of the sliding material.
In these production lines the dust generated by the longitudinal cut is added to the paper dust that the reel itself creates in the unwinding phase, and the elimination of these particles requires a powerful intervention that is guaranteed by the ACE DM6000 dedusting system. An antistatic londual BB bar at low voltage and high efficiency at the input of the unit frees the particles to be removed. Immediately after, within the HC24 cleaning head, powerful combined flows of air blown (with air knives) and sucked successfully remove the totality of the free dust.
The SPB91-A2 filtering unit which generates the air blown and sucked flows, it is also equipped with a series of self-cleaning filters through which the dusts are captured
and subsequently deposited into a collection tray.
- Dedusting system for Corrugators
In corrugating machines the comes next to the Cutting-Creasing machines is the cross cutter. In this section, the strips resulting from the longitudinal cutting of the parent reel are reduced into sheets. It is no longer therefore to eliminate the dust from a reel, but from sheets. Thanks to the dedusting system ACE COR-TR28 model, each individual sheet is completely freed from the paper dust generated by cutting.
The system consists usually of two cleaning heads, an upper and a lower one, placed one after the other. These special heads are equipped with a 24V low voltage anti-static bar with high efficiency, to eliminate the electrostatic bond that retains the impurities on the surface of the cardboard. Inside the head are placed suction channels for high volumes of air, and a special rotating brush fitted with bristles specially designed to intercept any type of contaminant. The aerodynamics and combined mechanical action makes it possible to completely remove any remaining dust.
The plant is completed by high-capacity filtering units, accompanied by appropriate ducting of rigid pipes and prepared ad hoc for each type of installation.
- Dedusting systems for Flexo Printing Machines
Designed specifically for the removal of dust and scraps, the systems of the AK series are installed on flexo printing machines for sheets of corrugated cardboard.
The cleaning heads act on the side of the material which will subsequently be printed, with a combined action of turbulence created by air blown and sucked at high speed, an anti-static system with new 24V technology, and fixed or rotating brush for removing large-sized contaminants.
Together these actions provide unmatched cleaning efficiency on cardboard sheets, allowing the machines to perform at their best and obtaining products with perfect printing quality.
Specific mechanical and electronic devices are installed on the cleaning heads, in order to adjust their distance in an optimal way from the cardboard sheet, thus matching its variation in thickness
The correct combination between the suitable model of cleaning head with respect to the size of the sheet, and consequent proper filtering unit sized according to the type and the amount of dust to be eliminated, determine the ideal solution for any specific need.
- Cut Cleaner
Any cutting unit generates dust and this is a fact.
Dust and fibres are entrained on the materials after cutting, then remaining imprisoned in the reels during winding. The contaminating dust and fibres accumulate in the knives unit, both on the blades and in their vicinity, settle on the materials before winding and give rise to final reels with incorrect thickness, and expensive material waste for non-compliance.
In fact, the dust and fibres trapped in the reels will be released again by the subsequent unwinding process on other lines, certainly influencing the quality of the finished product. In addition the dust adhering to the blades generate thickness that interfere with the quality of the cut, which according to the type of material may even result in breakage of the strips leading to production stoppages.
The installation of a CutCleaner system on the cutting unit completely eliminate these problems, besides increasing the service life of the knives in a remarkable way.
The combination of a CutCleaner and Dedusting “non-contact” system of the DM series including an adequate filtering unit, represents the state of the art in applications for high dustiness materials such as paper, cardboard, tissue and

The ACE EP/3 electrostatic charging bars fixing the edges have been specially designed to meet the most complex needs during the production of the film on Cast extrusion machines.
The powerful action of these bars firmly fixes the edges of the film on the chill-roll at maximum operating speed, thus eliminating the problems of shrinking the film in the extrusion process.
All edge fixing systems by ACE are equipped with special interchangeable tips that thanks to their technical characteristics guarantee the highest performance, providing 100% efficiency and safety to Cast lines.
- Electrostatic Changeover
This ACE device is installed toperform the electrostatic winding of plastic films, non woven fabric and thin papers, on cardboard or metal cores without having to resort to the normal use of glues or adhesive tapes.
The system consists of anACE special electrostatic charged barconnected to a generator, thanks to which the bar creates an intense and homogeneous electrostatic ionization able to guarantee a perfect and safe adhesion of the material on the core.
The type of static bar to be used (as well as the electrostatic generator coupled to it), varies in function of the machine on which the system will be installed.
The device can be used both on machines with stationary gear and in speed, and is normally installed on final winders of cast-film systems, extrusion coating lines, rewinder cutters, flexo machines and other machines with final winders which allow the installation.
- Clear Tube
Many industrial sectors produce waste materials that are transferred to collection systems through suction piping.
An example is the graphic industry where the paper trimmings are transferred to external containers through pneumatic conveying systems.
But even in the extrusion industry, where during the production of plastic film, the reel edges are trimmed and sucked towards the collection system. In the path composed of pipes in which the trimmings are sucked up, they are charged with electrostatic current. Once reached the cyclone or the separator, the scraps are glued to their walls, being blocked. The ACE technology has brilliantly solved this problem, in fact through the mounting of a reinforced portion of pipes provided with antistatic BR/PR bars with high efficiency at the input of the cyclone or separator, scraps and trimmings that will flow in speed are being completely discharged from the electrostatic current and made free to slide up to the final collection point.
THE ADVANTAGES
The placement of special antistatic bars on the circumference of a pipe trunk specially crafted, guarantees the elimination of the 100% of the electrostatic charges that are formed on scraps of paper and films while being transferred to the cyclone/separator.
No more scraps jammed inside the intake system
The plant will not undergo more production downtime periods due to the blocking of the scrap recovery system.
No more charges in the cyclone or separator, no more scraps glued to its walls, no more blocking of the system!
- Chill Charging
In roto offset print, especially during production with light-weight papers, there is the problem of breakage of paper due to the formation of condensate on the first and sometimes the second cylinder of the unit. The condensate is formed by the difference in temperature between the paper just out of the oven, and the surface of the cylinder that must cool it. The air cushion that is formed between the side of the reel and the surface of the cylinder favours the creation of the condensate and the wet paper tends to break during folding.
Another problem concerns the print quality. Precisely because of the above-mentioned condensate the cooling cylinders tend to become contaminated with ink, and then to transfer again on the paper stains that compromise the final printed material.
The ACE solution to avoid these problems of the calendering unit of the offset rotators consists of two DE-R40 static charging bars, that when loading paper make it able to homogeneously and completely adhere to the surface of the calendering cylinder, completely eliminating the air cushion and the consequent creation of moisture between the two surfaces and thus favouring an absolutely better heat exchange.
High speed, optimal heat exchange, elimination of the risk of breakage of the reel and deterioration in the print quality on calenders at the output of the oven in offset rotator.
- Pile Charging
At the output of the stackers placed in the finishing lines of the rotators, the product packs are often unstable. Not only they tend to break down if not to collapse, but when they enter the strapping machine, the pressing element and/or the pressure of the strap takes apart the pack when turning to be strapped.
This creates a further problem also to the palletizer which instead must receive packs properly stacked and stable not to risk to become engulfed.
The ACE Pile Charging system perfectly solves the problem of the instability of the packs; in fact, three bars of electrostatic charge, two at the sides and one on top of the clamping unit, transfer a powerful and homogeneous static charge which penetrates the pack locking it statically.
This avoids that the package can break down or fall during its travel on the conveyor belts up to the palletizer.
Through the use of the Pile Charging system, packs not tied but electrostatically charged, can be automatically palletized by palletizing robots.
- Ribbon Charging
New concept of electrostatic coupling of the ribbons in the castle of the rotogravure and roto-offset high speed printing machines.
It is a system consisting of two modular plates mounted opposite to one another, while the ribbons will run in the middle being loaded in a complete and homogeneous way.
Each plate consists of a series of electrostatic charge high power bars, placed vertically and side by side. The individual elements are easily insertable or removable from the plate to allow an optimal coverage on the total width of the ribbon, without creating the problems of traditional bars that instead require protection on the parts that exceed the ribbon and which can create a dangerous arc.
The two plates are mounted on a slide which can be moved manually or via a command from the machine control console, for they can be centred with respect to the strips and to adjust the power with respect to the number of strips and the time of permanence of the effect that is desired.
In the case of a bar should be replaced, regardless of the simplicity of the operation, the other bars, part of that plate, can compensate for the charging effect necessary, thus avoiding the need to stop the production to make the repair.
The installation of the system is quick and simple, in fact, the plate unit has been studied in order to be assembled with a few simple operations and also on fittings of other existing systems.
- Cut Cleaner for Gravure applications
The bending unit of a rotogravure printing machine for publishing is equipped with a complete cutting unit of many slitters for the division of the printed reel in ribbons, which then give rise to the pages.
This section of the machine generates a huge amount of paper dust with hazardous consequences, because there are installed electrostatic charging bars which may ignite the paper dust and irreparably damage the machine, not to mention the hazards to personnel and the burden of maintenance costs arising from the presence of paper dust very abrasive in the mechanical parts of the bending castle.
This ACE solution consists of three elements:
- The containment little hoods of the knives that suck the dust generated by the cutting
- a cleaning head that activates before the cut ribbons enter into the angular group of bars, where due to the separation they release the fibres partially trapped by completing the removal of paper dust
- a filter unit of appropriate size to meet the needs of the system. This unit can also transfer the collected dust to the centralized suction system already installed at the company.
CUT CLEANER safer bending machines and reduced maintenance costs.
